So, for those of you who have asked, one of the many things occupying my time is a little stint that I have at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, here in Los Angeles. What follows, here , is a short little slideshow of images that my students have culled from various periodicals which they feel illustrate the dynamics of this present time period. Ultimately, what will result from this exercise are clothes which are inspired by their reactions to the times. If you’d like, and depending on the results, I’ll post a “greatest hits” once they’ve finished the project. Where’s your blog?!? Pleeeease update? How awesome would it be to analyze PR4 for us? But something tells me you aren’t that type of person to go all critique-fest on the internet :-/ (But it would be cool!)
Excellent. A wonderful assignment and so important for anyone designing for today. I remember ages ago, when I was just beginning in art school, coming in with such bravado. A teacher asked us, Who creates art? Almost everyone said the artist, and for someone to point out the truism of art being a product / signal/ bellwether of the times it was created in, was nothing less than a watershed.
Keep up the great work. I enjoy reading your blog.
